
September 25, 2008 Highlights from the club meeting are as follows. Bill-K4IBZ, demonstrated how to build a CW key. Simply by using everyday items around the house. Ken Cromer from the American Red Cross gave a presentation on the abilities of the Red Cross and how NOARC can help in natural disasters. Secretary Report: Chayne-KI4WBN read minutes from the last meeting. Cal-W4GMH, approved the minutes and Bob-KI4MEU Seconded. Training Report: RON- KI5FR reported he would have a Tech. Class sometime in November. Treasures Report: Was read by Cal-W4GMH. Activities Report: Cal-W4GMH, reported, the tower which lays on the ground behind the Fire Station needs to be moved by Sunday. It was decided that we would do the work on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. Conduit for the coax will be put in this weekend as well. Foxhunt: The next Foxhunt will be October 4th in the afternoon. Website: Phil-N6COP, reported the website is going well and if there is anything else the Club Members would like to see on there, to let him know. Old Business: Maintenance for the Courthouse project is still not available. We are keeping in touch by email. New Business: Steve-KB4OID, Steve-N4GXX and Jim-N4NID, gave a D-Star Report. The D-Star repeater is now operational on Jim-N4NID’s repeater. The 2 meter side still needs to be connected as well as the gateway. Scouting-JOTA was discussed. It was determined that the event will be a daytime activity. The club will also be doing “Jamboree on the Internet,” (JOTI). There were a few questions including internet connectivity and times. Steve-KB4OID, offered his wireless cell phone setup for the event. Bob-KI4MEU gave a report on the Paxton Heritage Day on October 23rd. CAL-W4GMH, reported Veterans Day Paraded on November 8th. They would primarily need help with communications and coordinate the staging area. At least 6 people would be needed. On October 18th the South Alabama Amateur Radio Club will have a picnic at Frank Jackson State Park. A roundtable followed all of the business.
