The North Okaloosa Amateur Radio Club, Inc. (NOARC) is a service organization located in Crestview, Florida. It has members from Santa Rosa, Walton, and Okaloosa Counties in Florida and Covington County, Alabama.  During the club's history, members have supported the community numerous times by providing emergency communications and were often the only means of communication in and out of areas affected by disasters.  Club activities include participation each year in the American Radio Relay League sponsored Field Day event, hidden transmitter hunts, picnics, and hosting Technician Classes.  Our goal is to enjoy amateur radio and to introduce and promote the hobby to the public to ensure that there will always be a pool of well trained and well equipped hams ready to support our community when needed.

The next NOARC Club meeting will be held:

Date: Thursday January 8th, 2009

Time: 7:00 P.M.

Special Announcement

NOARC Tech. Night

Every 4th Thursday of the month starting this month  at 7:00, Jan 22, bring out your radios if you have them, your instruction manuals and a load of question and come out to the Dorcas Fire Dept.  This night is your night where we will answer your questions about radio and ham activities.  If we don't know the answers, we will find someone who does.  Since you have had your license, some of you have come to meetings and, quite frankly, we haven't done much to help you. For instance, Doug KG4KK has brought radios to several meetings and we have had too many things going on to help.  WELL, NO MORE!!! This is your night.  A few other Hams and I will be at the Dorcus Fire Station to help you.  We will even have a radio or 2 to play with.   If you are on this list and did not succeed the first time on the test, please come out, and we will help.  See below for directions.

Next, Bob N4CU needs your help.  I the event of a need for Hams to work here in Okaloosa County for natural disasters, or other emergency or need, he will be called from Tallahassee to find amateurs to help.  He needs folks who have been trained to operate their radios.  To have a bigger pool of hams to call, Bob is working to put together training and exercises.  The first will be with some of the Okaloosa county CERT folks in January, we can expect to see more training and exercises to come.  Hope to see you there if this is up your alley.

Finally, we want you on the air.  Even if it doesn't start with more than

a quick hello on the radio.  If I can do anything to help you out, please let me know.  Please consider coming on the 4th Thursday of the month.  We want you, and want to make it better for you to join in whether your interest in ham radio is as a hobby, emergency communication or because the boss asked you to go to a class.
